We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a Fish Market Operative / Hygiene Operative to join their busy Fish Market team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the seafood industry. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth day-to-day running of the Fish Market by ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and operational support.

Please note, this role will require candidates to work Dayshift and Nightshift on a rolling rota basis.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining exceptional cleaning and hygiene standards throughout the Fish Market.
  • Carrying out routine cleaning duties to ensure the market remains safe, clean, and audit-ready.
  • Assisting with hygiene compliance checks and maintaining accurate records.
  • Supporting the safe handling of equipment and materials used during daily market operations.
  • Assisting with vessel landings and allocating market floor space under supervision.
  • Shadowing experienced team members to learn fish weighing, grading, and cataloguing procedures.
  • Providing general operational support across the market as required.

Desirable Experience

Although full training will be provided, applicants with experience in any of the following will be highly advantageous:

  • Fish markets or seafood processing.
  • Fishing vessels or the wider seafood industry.
  • Industrial or food production hygiene cleaning.
  • Warehouse, stores, or labouring roles.
  • Loading and unloading deliveries.
  • Knowledge of fish species and an interest in fish grading and weighing.
  • Working within fast-paced operational environments.

This role will be based on a temporary 3 month trial, upon completion the right candidates will be offered a permanent contract.
