We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading seafood company based in Fraserburgh, who are looking for an experienced and reliable Maintenance Engineer to join their team.

This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining the company's manufacturing plant, machinery, equipment and facilities, helping to ensure everything remains safe, reliable and operational.

You will play an important role in supporting production by responding quickly to breakdowns, carrying out planned maintenance and identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs across a range of plant, machinery and equipment
• Responding to breakdowns and maintenance requests, ensuring equipment is returned to operation as quickly and safely as possible
• Installing, assembling, repositioning and testing machinery and equipment
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and inspections, keeping accurate records as required
• Planning and prioritising maintenance work to support production
• Monitoring equipment and identifying potential faults or issues before they become major problems
• Reporting breakdowns, root causes, equipment faults and ongoing concerns to management
• Carrying out electrical work within your level of competence
• Assisting with the construction, adaptation and fabrication of equipment where required
• Assisting and supervising visiting specialist engineers and contractors when necessary
• Operating maintenance equipment such as forklifts and elevated working platforms, where appropriately licensed
• Working safely from ladders, scaffolding and roofs where required
• Maintaining and improving health & safety standards across plant, equipment and facilities
• Isolating and locking off equipment where required and ensuring colleagues are aware of any associated risks
• Advising management where continued operation of equipment may present a safety risk
• Ensuring new and existing equipment meets relevant British health & safety standards
• Maintaining maintenance records, schedules, reports and other documentation
• Following all company risk assessments and ensuring work is carried out safely at all times

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in a maintenance engineering or similar industrial environment
• Practical, hands-on and confident diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults
• Able to work independently while also supporting the wider production team
• Organised and able to prioritise work effectively in a busy manufacturing environment
• Safety-conscious with a strong understanding of safe working practices
• Comfortable working around machinery and production equipment
• Flexible and willing to get involved wherever required
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, management and external engineers
• Comfortable carrying out physical work, including lifting, climbing, walking, bending and working at height where required

Skills & Experience

Experience in the following areas would be advantageous:

• Industrial/manufacturing maintenance
• Mechanical fault finding and repair
• Preventative maintenance
• Electrical maintenance within your capability
• Machinery installation and modification
• Fabrication and construction work
• Forklift or MEWP operation
• Working safely with machinery, isolations and lock-off procedures

A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience would be beneficial.
